27th
Wedding anniversaries of the past usually consisted of travelling somewhere, fine dining, or even ordering in favourite dishes, usually Biryani. There was this one year where we relished a movie followed by a romantic dinner.
This time, we didn’t plan anything. However, the day before, I saw a Facebook post by Sarita Agarwal showcasing different menu items at her Gachibowli outlet.
Sarita was one of the Sunrisers Hyderabad fandom cohorts with whom who I shared cricketing emotions. Up when SRH did well, down when they did not. Sharing views and exchanging notes after every game was like a decadent dessert after dinner. More on the IPL experience in a separate post.
In jest, I asked Sarita whether Facebook friends are entitled to discounts? She replied, yes, why not. The allure of a discounted offer is truly irresistible. When you get something at a price lesser than standard retail, the feeling of accomplishment is heavenly. So, the decision was made. House of Truly, it would be on Saturday.
But then, Sarita said she would be at the Sarath City Capital Mall outlet and not at Gachibowli. I decided puff pizza can wait. It would be good to meet an online friend. Never have I met in real life, people who are my social media connects. So, this would be a good start.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by Tarush, her son, who took our orders. After making our picks from the menu, we asked about Sarita ma’am and she came to the counter. I think I was immediately recognizable, my FB photos don’t have much of a makeover. She kept her word and gave us a 10% discount. After the initial conversation, I announced that it was our 27th marriage anniversary.
Adding charm to our night celebration, Sarita generously served us a mini chocolate cake complemented with wooden spoons and knife. Gratis. Truly heartening!
Everytime I eat out, I order an item whose name sounds different or exotic. This time it was Iced Vietnamese Latte. Very strong. Bambooish flavour. Though I liked it, may never order again. There is never a dearth of fancy named dishes in restaurants.
I observed that Sarita personally attends to her guests, ensuring their comfort and inquiring about their dining experience. The mall outlet was her first one, opened last year and the Gachibowli, Pine Valley branch is the second, opened this year. Best wishes to her and the family that House of Truly grows into a national chain.
After finishing our meal, we ordered a Blueberry Mojito, Almond Brownie and a Chocolate cupcake. Take out to eat at home. Didn’t ask for it, but the host splashed a 10% discount again. The Mojito was freshly prepared and canned for us by her. Nice hospitality touch again.
Before we headed out, we took a pic with the Mom and son.
